FAQ

Question: Bricks: Is the next money from 2003-2005 going to be spent on finish fixing the PAC, or on something else instead? If on something else, would that be on the second priority area of Carver Gym?

Answer: We plan on following the priority list with monies available in 2003-5. As additional funds become available in the future, work will continue down the list of priorities.

Question: Lighting: What is Lakewood? Is it on campus?

Answer: Go to the AS or VU website to find out about Lakewood. It's the AS site on Lake Whatcom. You should go there.

Question: Telephones: Which buildings have these interior emergency phones? I can never find a phone that isn't a pay phone in any academic building. Can we put up signs indicating where they are, like Emergency Exit signs?

Answer: Interior phones are signed, except for the red phones in environmental studies. There are interior phones in Bond, Arntzen, Haggard, Performing Arts, Science Lecture, and Biology

Question: Vehicles: Okay. So what is this group of administrators who are working on fixing the problem going to fix the problem? Will it happen before I graduate?

Answer: The goal is to have the pedestrian core of the campus free from most vehicular traffic. It is going to take several years, as this is a complex problem with no easy solution. It involves nearly every department at Western that owns a university vehicle. It also involves all the vendors that routinely supply the school with the products needed to keep it going every day. We have some measures currently in place.

Question: Vehicles: Where exactly is the "pedestrian core" part of campus?

Answer: Pedestrian core means the central part of the campus in general terms.

Question: Vehicles: Does the pedestrian core include the Ridge and all the white service vehicles driving up there all the time?

Answer: Pedestrian core means the central part of the campus in general terms. Ridgeway is a difficult place for vehicles due to the constricted access.
