ACTIVITIES COUNCIL

(VP Activities + 5 AS club reps & 1 at-large)

Shall have jurisdiction over all matters concerning AS clubs, and program funding and policy decisions made within AS organizations. Reports to the AS Board of Directors. (ASVP.Activities@wwu.edu, 650-3463, MS-9106)

ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICES COUNCIL

(VP Bus. & Operations + 1 at-large)

Shall make recommendations on computers, typewriters, telephones, and other support function equipment, software and technology (FAX, copiers, computer hardware, and software upgrades, etc.) to the AS Board of Directors and AS Business Office Director. The following areas will be included in the purview of this council: 1. Development and management of AS computer hardware and software configurations and selection; 2. Review and recommend requests for additional telephone lines and instruments, a well as addressing any changes in the services offered by the university; 3. Monitor typewriter purchases and preventive maintenance program; and 4. Make recommendation on new technology. Reports to the AS Board of Directors.(ASVP.BusOps@wwu.edu, 650-3736 MS-9106)

AS BOOKSTORE ADVISORY GROUP

(VP Bus. & Operations + 2 Senators and 1at-large)

Shall facilitate feedback from representative constituent groups to provide a forum for review and discussion of store policies, services and operations. Make suggestions regarding effective communication with the campus community, discuss current industry issues and give input regarding marketing and promotional messages that emphasize the benefits of the store as a campus resource, student cooperative and revenue source for student programs. AS BUDGET COMMITTEE

(VP Bus. & Operations + 2 at-large)

Reviews the budget proposals of the AS organizations and activities and establishes the operating budget for the next fiscal year. Responsible for presenting the proposed AS budget to the AS Board of Directors by the final meeting of the year for approval. AS CAMPUS & COMMUNITY AFFAIRS COUNCIL

(10 at-large*)

Functions as a central council to discuss and make recommendations on issues related to prevention & wellness, safety, parking & transportation, housing & dining and community relations. Will also serve as a forum for students to bring issues relating to the above topics to the attention of student government, faculty and administrators. *Members must serve concurrently on a committee listed in the AS Board Office, VU 504. AS DIVERSITY TASK FORCE

(VP Diversity + 4 at-large)

Establishes recommendations on campus issues of diversity to forward to the A.S. Board of Directors. Provides a forum in which constituents can foster awareness, express concerns and when necessary, act as a grievance channel regarding A.S.-related diversity issues. AS ELECTION BOARD

(4 reps. from within the A.S., and 2 at-large)

Makes decisions concerning the fairness of A.S. Election proceedings through hearings regarding candidate's grievances. Judgments are made according to the Election Board's interpretation of the rules and regulations outlined in the A.S. Election Code. Reports to the A.S. Board of Directors. AS ELECTION CODE REVIEW COMMITTEE

(VP Bus. & Operations + 5 at-large)

To review and recommend changes to the A.S. Election Code in order to simplify and clarify the Code and the A.S. election process. To encourage more professional campaigns, greater voter turnout, and increase candidate and electorate participation in the election process. Reports to the A.S. Board of Directors. AS FACILITIES AND SERVICES COUNCIL

(VP Bus. & Operations + 6 students: 1 AC rep., 1 Student employee , 1 Bookstore employee, and 3 at-large)

Deals with the Associated Students' various services and facilities (Food Services, Lakewood, Viqueen Lodge, etc.). Reports to the AS Board of Directors. (ASVP.Busops@wwu.edu, 650-2941, MS-9106)

AS LEGISLATIVE AFFAIRS COUNCIL

(VP Legislative + 6 at-large)

To increase student involvement, formulate policies and positions of the ASWWU relating to legislative activities, national affairs and external affairs. AS PROMOTIONS COMMITTEE

(VP Activities + 3 at-large)

Develop strategies to conduct a year-long promotional campaign to promote the A.S. as an entity, including at least one A.S. information fair. Advise the individual A.S. offices on their office marketing plans to facilitate consistent promotional efforts. Make recommendations to the A.S. AS STUDENT SENATE

(Board Designee + 4 Students by year, 1 Grad student, and *8 at-large, (* # fluctuates w/ enrollment )

Responsible for increasing student involvement in the A.S. Board of Directors decision-making process. The Senate will provide student input on issues presented to the Board, but will not advise on personnel issues or policies. The Senate is encouraged to comment on issues from within and also those presented by students. Reports to the AS Senate Chair. (AS.Student.Senate@wwu.edu, 650-6455, MS-9106)

AS SUMMER EXECUTIVE ADVISORY COMMITTEE

(1 at-large)

Acts as an advisory committee to the AS Summer Executive in matters concerning summer session at WWU in the AS. Responsibilities include reviewing funding requests and club recognition packets for Activities Council, assisting the Summer Executive in planning the AS fall orientation, and the A.S Red Square Information Fair. AS TRANSPORTATION ADVISORY COMMITTEE

(VP Student Life + 1 RHA rep. and 3 at-large)

To increase student involvement in the development, revision of ideas, and promotion of an all-campus transportation pass program for WWU and monitor all legislation concerning transportation and the possible effects it may have on the Western community. Ethnic Student Center Steering Committee

(VP Diversity + ESC Club Steering Representatives)

Shall set policies and procedures for the Ethnic Student Center and maintain the mission of the organization, serve as the facilitator for the disbursement of programming funds, and ratify new Ethnic Student Center clubs. Ethnic Student Center President’s Council

(VP Diversity + ESC Club Presidents/Coordinators)

Dialogues in matters relating to the internal affairs of the Ethnic Student Center (networking, budgeting, program standards, etc.). Also acts as a support and resource group for the Ethnic Student Center leadership, as well as an advisory council to the AS Vice President for Diversity.
