I am in my third year at Western and majoring in Political Science. In the past I served as the AS Legislative Liaison; lobbying on the behalf of students in Olympia during the 2009 legislative session. I have also been involved in the AS Student Senate, several AS committees, and the club Students for Civic Engagement.

In my time at Western I have come to greatly appreciate the power, insight, and intelligence of the student voice. In my role as VP for Governmental Affairs I want to enhance that voice. By making sure that as many students as possible are registered to vote (register to vote at www.vote.wa.gov) and then vote thoughtfully. I want to make sure that efforts on our campus to make us effective citizens are well thought out and coordinated. Working with this year’s AS Legislative Liaison, The Washington Student Association, and The University Administration I am seeking to remind The Washington Legislature about the value and importance of regional universities and higher education overall. Most importantly I am working to make sure that the AS is responsive to evolving student needs.
