Alekz Wray for VP for Diversity
I believe that one of the most crucial responsibilities for the VP for Diversity position is fostering and helping raise the voices of members from the community. Too often are people's opinions silenced and as VP for Diversity I would work to make sure that the voices of people from historically underrepresented and oppressed groups are heard loud and clear. I would create a space where people could speak with me directly: in person, via web, and preferably through personal relationships. I would also work to make sure that students of color are comfortable on Western's campus and in the Bellingham community by starting the legwork on an Ethnic Student Center mentorship program.
