2008 AS Elections

On the ballot this year:

  • Candidates for the 7 positions on the Associated Students Board of Directors

When to vote:

  • Voting starts 4/28/08 at 12:01 am
  • Voting ends 5/2/08 at 2:00pm

How to vote:

  • On MyWestern, under the "What's New" channel
  • Polling station in Red Square from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm Monday-Thursday, 9:00 am to 2:00 pm on Friday.

  • February 20, 2008

    Election Code is action item at the AS Board of Directors

  • March 03, 2008

    Filing period begins

  • March 21, 2008

    Last day that petition signatures for an initiative with wording previously approved by the ASBOD can be submitted

  • April 03, 2008

    • Filing period closes, forms due to AS Board Office
    • Candidate’s petition due at 5:00
    • $25 refundable posting deposit due to VU Finance Office by 5:00
    • Last day for the AS Board to submit AS Board approved referendum for inclusion in ballot

  • April 04, 2008

    Mandatory candidate meeting (after 5:00 pm)

  • April 05, 2008

    Campaigning period begins at 10:00 am

  • April 14, 2008

    Election dates, polling hours, polling locations, and availability of absentee ballots forwarded to AS Review, KUGS-FM, KVIK, the Western Front, and campus bulletin boards by today

  • April 23, 2008

    • AS Review Voter’s Pamphlets available in AS Board Office by today
    • Absentee ballots available no later than today

  • April 28, 2008

    First day of elections, voting starts at midnight, polling station opens in Red Square at 9:00 am

  • May 02, 2008

    • Last day of elections, voting ends at 2:00 pm
    • Red Square Polling Station closes at 2:00 pm
    • Candidates' financial statements due by 5:00 pm
    • Absentee ballots must be delivered in person, or received by the AS Board of Directors Program Assistant by 2:00 pm to be valid
    • Contact candidates after results have been verified
    • Unofficial results sent to Western Front, KUGS-FM, AS Review, KVIK, posted at AS Board Office

  • May 05, 2008

    • Election Coordinator shall coordinate posting of the unofficial election results in all Residence Halls, in all glass (information) cases in the Viking Union, and on the AS website (www.as.wwu.edu) by 12:00 pm
    • All candidates’ campaign materials must be removed no later than 10:00 am, or the $25 posting deposit will not be refunded

  • May 07, 2008

    • Election Board Chair and Elections Coordinator shall report the unofficial election results to the ASWWU Board of Directors at their 6:00 meeting
    • Last day to hold run-off election

  • May 23, 2008

    If no action has been taken, results will become official today
